President Abraham Lincoln was incorrect when he asserted that “the world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here,” when he presented his “few appropriate remarks” to open the Soldier’s National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pa., on Nov. 19, 1863. Now that 150 years have passed since the delivery of that address, it has gone down in history as one of the most famous speeches in American history.

Nearly 500 people marked the occasion of Lincoln’s speech when the Minnesota Civil War Commemoration Task Force sponsored Max and Donna Daniels to portray President and Mrs. Lincoln, at four locations throughout the Twin Cities in a one-day lecture series on Nov. 19, 2013.
The Lincoln’s began the day at Black Hawk Middle School in Eagan, Minn., where they spoke in front of over 200 schoolchildren. During the afternoon, they presented to students and faculty at Century College in White Bear Lake, Minn., and Concordia University-St. Paul, before concluding the evening at the Pohlad Hall of the Minneapolis Public Library. At the evening event, they were preceded by an hour-long presentation by John D. Cox, a Gettysburg licensed battlefield guide and author of Gettysburg: A History for the People.
